I used to watch all my habs games on Radio Canada. I got to learn useful phrases such as "baton eleve" and "mise en jour". And because it was another language, I did not get distracted as easily.

Also, I hate to say it, but the year [1999?] they had the broadcaster/boom mic strike (or was it a lockout?) remains legendary in my mind. There was, like, half a season or so with no commentary at all. Just the game and the noise of the crowd. Never had such a treat before or since.
