Well, he's not your standard douchebag, but he is a douchebag nonetheless. Mind you, he's had a pretty rough life and I really looked up to him when I was growing up.

I'll never forget the first year when he got called up to Calgary in the playoffs. He really had an instant impact. Our entire town was proud and thrilled. At the time, he played on the warriors (for about three years?) with Mike Keane (captain), Lyle Odelein, and Kelly Buchberger, who once lifted me right off the ground and threw me into a snow bank for hacking his shins during street hockey.

I went to A LOT of their games as my team sold the game programs in the audience to raise money for our travels.

Incidentally, that was also the same time that the Swift Current Broncos bus tragedy occurred. I think they may have even been travelling to Moose Jaw at the time. Graham James was the coach. Burnaby Joe Sakic was also on that bus I think as was Sheldon Keefe. Also incidentally, Lyle Odelein's brother Selmar was a star on the Regina Pats at the time. He never went anywhere though.

Single 3”x3.5” jersey ads coming in 2022-2023. It is impressive we made it this far without them, but you have to figure now the gate is open the jerseys and ice surface will be a cluttered mess in no time. : (

And not to overshadow that, but Chicago just did a promo vid with all the sweaters for their new fellers but spelled Fleury's name wrong. Guess they are not familiar with French letter conventions.

Elliotte writes tonight that the NHL and NHLPA have agreed that for the following season, non-vaxxed players will not only be automatically suspended, but docked with one day's pay for each day they are ineligible to participate in team activities due to state/provincial/national laws.

Provocative.

The good news for Kane is that the NHL closed its investigation into domestic abuse allegations, the bad news is that they found out he lied (and possibly forged documentation) about his vaccination status.

Listening to Marek and a turtle-necked Eliotte, they're hearing rumours that Seattle will raise a Stanley Cup banner before the Habs game this week. Seattle played the habs in 1917 (?) and won. Seems tacky and a jinx to me but I wouldn't put it past them.

The other interesting tit bit was that Eichel is close to filing a grievance against Buffalo to get his deal moving. I'm not sure I've seen that before. Anyone with a longer memory?

The NHLPA filed a grievance on behalf of Byfuglien when the Jets refused to allow him to get ankle surgery and suspended him for failing to report to training camp (the Jets might have been trying to force Byfuglien to retire or ask for a trade instead of riding out the rest of his contract on LTIR). The grievance was withdrawn a few months later when Byfuglien and the Jets agreed to mutual contract termination. I don't think anyone knows why Byfuglien agreed to that. He didn't get any financial settlement, he didn't formally retire, and he didn't sign for a new team. I guess he just gave up $14 million he was owed to never have to set foot in Manitoba again.

I was at the game tonight. It was an amazing experience. I don't think I've been to a game for 20 years almost. It was so overwhelming for me to be around all those people but it was also really fun. Canucks looked good at times. I was really excited to see Saros and he didn't let me down. I was in lower bowl Row 9 and had awesome seats. I didn't pay. My rich older brother took me as a treat because I've been having such a rough time lately. So fun. Diwali night was great too. Those sweaters were super popular here and I really wanted one. I had so many snacks. I amazed myself, Bareely touched my $20-dollar beer. Bonkers. Everything else was reasonably priced though.

Holy smokes they have soooooooo many good food options. It was unreal. Atmosphere was electric. Like a huge party even though they lost. Really nice. No one was angry. Eveyrone was just out having a gay old time.

And there were lots of little kids - maybe there for the first time, So cute. It must be amazing for them too. Also, You really see Vancouver's diversity at the game. Holy shit it was great. Really nice to see that aspect. And all the Diwali stuff was fun. Even a bangra dj. The anthem singer was superb too. Really liked him.

You know who cracked me up though? Duchesne. What a tool. He was the only one on the ice in warmups with no helmet on, letting his flow steal the show. and I swear he celebrated after he scored in warmout. Then when warm-ups were over and everyone headed off, he lingered on the ice and took a few more shots hahahah . What a tool. But he had a decent game and a goal.

Petterson was garbage. Canucks got two beauty goals and dominated at times I thought. But Saros was easily the best player on the ice. I can't believe Granlund got first star because he got two assists. I didn't notice him all game tbh.

Two seconds. They just squeeze your balls really tight when you don't expect it and then stick their thumb up your ass.

But seriously, we got there around 6 pm for a 7 pm start. Got in queue outside arena and they had people going up and down telling everyone to have their vax passports ready and ID too. They might give it a cursory look but the line doesn't stop moving. Then when you get to the doors, they check it for the last time but don't scan it (I will never get that). Then you go through the security like normal: take your shit out of your pockets etc but keep your belt on. Before you know it, you're buying 50/50 tickets and eating a really good hotdog and sushi and ice cream and pretzels and wine gums and beers for 20 bucks. All normal.

Masks are mandatory in the stands and concourse unless you are eating or drinking but it was about 50% people wearing them I'd say. Mostly because everyone was eating and drinking. Get their early and have ample time.

edit: To clarify - 50% wearing masks in the stands. 100% on the concourse.

You are very welcome. Also, we queued on the upper level not near the skytrain. On the west side. Seemed pretty chill. I imagine the skytrain east side would be way more crowded.

Did you enjoy the game? I imagine so with that unexpected outburst of goals.

Was your experience similar to mine?

Please tell me what you had to eat. There were so many places I didn't try because I was full.

It was an entertaining contest featuring a power play that finally broke out to propel the hometown Canucks to the victory. Elias Peterson graced the scoresheet on more than one occasion with the overlap yet his 5 on 5 performance left one wanting.

Did not get adventurous with the food, reviewed the options from smoked meat sandwiches to noodles and settled on the Triple O cheeseburger and fries. My daughter chose the Tuna Poke Bowl.

Our tickets included underground parking so we did not need to stand out in the rain waiting to have our vaccination confirmed.

We were entertained occasionally by an ABBA tribute band. Social cause of the day was cancer with appearances by relatives of Terry Fox.

Nothing wrong with a classic Triple O burger. Krikey, I wish I had one right now.

Poke bowl seems an odd choice for a little kid to make. She must have a sophisticated palate.
