Yes, it's good to see someone who refers to themselves as 'car bomb' advocating for a good cause.

Well they're still paying him, so it makes sense they'd still have his rights.

There is a less than 10% chance we do not acquire Lucic at the deadline to secure early negotiation. Jim Benning pisses prospects and picks like Graham James cleaning up.

One can only hope that Dean Lombardi asks for less in a Lucic trade because he thinks we won't re-sign him.

16. The Canucks dressed five players on entry-level contracts against the Canadiens — Bo Horvat, Ben Hutton, Jared McCann, Hunter Shinkaruk and Jake Virtanen. Seriously, who saw that coming? It’s not as if these players are just filling out roster spots, either. Vancouver made changes to its scouting department last summer, but those who are gone did not leave the cupboard bare. GM Jim Benning has a good eye, too. In 2014, he grabbed Russian defenceman Nikita Tryamkin 66th overall. “I was like, ‘Who?’” one North American-based scout laughed last week. “Now, I’ve seen him. He’s going to be a player.” The team hopes he joins AHL Utica after the KHL season. The most fascinating thing to watch will be which veterans stay. There’s zero interest in ever moving the Sedins; the hope is they retire as Canucks. Word is the club plans to reach out to its potential UFAs in the new year to gauge things. And, it sure sounds like the organization believes Jacob Markstrom is a future number one.
17. After seeing Daniel Sedin miss zero shifts in Montreal after getting his face sliced with a stick, can we end this idiotic discussion the Sedins aren’t tough?
18. One of the things I like to ask young players is who did you go up against that made you realize, “Holy $%&@, I have some work to do here?” Hutton said Evgeni Malkin. “The coaches are always reminding me about gap. Malkin came at me with the puck, and I let him have too much room. Next thing I knew, he was going by me. Luckily (Matt Bartkowski) came to help. When I got back to the bench, the coaches just said, ‘Gap,’” he laughed. McCann named Jason Spezza. “I went to take the puck from him. He’s strong, he’s got that long reach and long stick. Didn't work.”
19. Last season, Willie Desjardins mentioned the combination special teams stat as something he closely monitors. (That’s adding your power play and penalty-killing percentages together.) Vancouver’s total in 2014-15 was 105, third in the NHL behind Washington (106.5) and St. Louis (106). So far on the 1-3-2 road trip, it is 85.6. That’s an ugly stretch, as the lowest 2015-16 overall number is Philadelphia’s 90.5. The Canucks have 11 power play goals, but have allowed four with the man advantage. That plus-7 total is the lowest for any team that’s reached double-figures in power play scores. That may be why they tried Jannik Hansen over Radim Vrbata on the top unit. His speed can chase down mistakes.

I found out what's wrong with Miller.
http://forums.sabrespace.com/topic/1661 ... lers-eyes/
Well..it is quite possible he never developed proper depth perception. I won't rehash all the technicals, but I will point out that craniosynostosis or plagiocephaly as a young child could very well have caused Miller's misshapen head, and in turn, caused an eye problem.

I love Burrows, but that's pretty low.
For the record, I think all trash talk is dumb and infantile, but if someone says something mean to you on the ice, there is no conceivable world where they mean it literally, and it probably shouldn't be taken that way. Like if someone used a racial slur on me, yeah it'd piss me off, but my natural conclusion isn't "This guy hates my ethnic group and is probably going to foment hatred against us with dangerous consequences off the ice". It's "he's trying to bother me in this sporting event."

Especially at the professional level. It's a thing that has been in sports for a very long time. It's dumb and not something I particular like but I'm not a professional sportsperson. It's all about gaining a competitive advantage and non of it means anything.

I'm of the opinion that you can say whatever you want about the person but comments about the person's family should be avoided.

not to play the victim but god damn does this franchise ever have a penchant for finding themselves in the middle of bullshit drama
anyway if the league doesn't ban burrows then i think the canucks have to waive him or buy his contract out. theres absolutely no room in todays nhl for players who say mean things. i mean, this REALLY crosses an arbitrary line.my thoughts nad prayers to the family of patrick "o" sullivan

now people believe that burrows said something about tootoo's dead brother
except the nhl already investigated it and said they didn't think it was a big deal, and i'm pretty sure that's something the nhl would question

Toronto Maple Leafs get a B, Vancouver Canucks fail: Grading NHL teams at the draft
http://www.torontosun.com/2016/06/20/fr ... -nhl-draft
VANCOUVER CANUCKS (F)
Average first pick since 2005: 18.6 (21st)
Top-10 picks: 4
Games played by draft picks: 2,086 (30th)
Points from draft picks: 784 (30th)
First-rounders to play in NHL: 10
Second-rounders: 2
Third-rounders or lower: 9
Biggest bust: Patrick White (1st round, 25th overall in 2007, 0 GP, 0 P)
Biggest steal: Mason Raymond (2nd round, 51st overall in 2005, 542 GP, 251 P)
We say: The Canucks rank last in terms of games played by draft picks and points generated. To be fair, the Canucks were a strong team from 2006-07 to 2012-13, making it to at least the second round of the playoffs four times, so they weren’t looking to work draft picks into the lineup. But they have had far too many whiffs, mixed in with the tragedy of first-rounder Luc Bourdon dying in a motorcycle accident, and very few mid-round picks have made an impact. They’ve been better in recent years, but it could take a long time for them to make up for so many poor performances at the draft.

He's playing top four minutes while Trevor van Riemsdyk and Brian Campbell have been healthy scratches.
I knew Forsling was a great prospect, but I didn't expect he would adapt and be such a good NHLer so soon.

Re: Press Clippings: Canucks News Not Fit For It's Own Thead 3
Hey, fellow nuckers: Miller just signed for seven at eight. Pretty reasonable coming off by far his best year.
Also, was watching this 15-minute clip of EP40 this morning. Christ in a crew neck, his patience is incredible. Nerves of steel. Hope he gets his spark back before he's retired in 18 years.
If interested on a Sunday morn:
As you guys may know, I am not primarily a Vancouver fan. I didn't grow up in BC and have only lived here since 1989. My early life was dedicated to the Habs and it still is. But Canucks are easily my #2. I have no feelings for the other teams but for indifference or outright loathing (see Leafs/Boston).
What I am getting at is that all of my good friends and family here are huge canucks people. And I will never turn down a chance to read about them or watch them. I would say my friends, who are all hockey players still (amazingly) are especially keen on the team and spend ridiculous hours watching PVRd games.
Anyway, we are scattered around the world, but chat a lot every day, which was a life saver during the worst of covid. (Imagine going through that without internet? Fuck. Would have had to become an expert at something in the 20,000 forced hours of downtime). During the worst of it, it was one of our b-days. For the occasion, one of my friends gave one of the best gifts to which I've ever been privy. (It is really something when it is not your birthday but you enjoy a gift almost as much as the person receiving it.) It was a Cameo (I'd never heard of it at that point) video of Boudreau sending my pal b-day wishes in Japan. It was outstandingly funny and personal. I will never forget it. He even mentions the Habs and how I am a weirdo for not supporting the local boys more. haha. I don't even want to know how much it cost my bud to get that done. But it was easily worth it.

That is the very strong EF5 rumour, yes. It is getting preposterous. Bruce does not deserve JT Miller and his half-assed bullshit.
