2013: Post Game Rantings/Celebrations brought to you by Dan Bylsma's constipated look of disappointment

No really, we can't support a team unless we have the best player ever on it.

- MAF: Let in 1 soft goal but was swarmed for most of the game, that soft goal though, c'mon MAF.
- Team Defense: 1st period, where the FUCK were you guys?
- Niskanen: Stupid penalty led to a pp goal.
- Neal: Stupid penatly, it's becoming a trend with this team.

+ Sid: Beast.
+ Dupers: Beast, unreal on the forecheck.
+ Kunitz: Holy fuck has he been awesome now that he's 100% healthy again.
+ Vokoun: He was meh, but at least he won, that should boost his confidence again.

Neal hasn't scored a fucking goal in 7 games. TK has like 2 goals in that span.

Outside of Beau's first 4 games, he hasn't gone more than 1 game without registering a point. That's not bad at all for a rookie that is getting 3rd line ice time (12mins a game).

Not bad.

+Vokoun - He's been unreal after his stretch of being Thibault bad.
+Iginla - He looked decent for not really practicing with the team and needing time to really gel and being played out of position by Bylstard.
+Neal - Finally scoring.
+Kennedy - He was absolutely flying all game, I kind of want to see him retained, but that 2m/yr price tag is high for what he has done this year, can't have down years with him.
+Murray - He was solid for playing the most out of the defensemen, people said he was shit slow and useless, he's an average skater but he's usually always in position.
+Cooke - Guys at boreds hate him because he won't hit as much, but he does so many good things that get over looked. He was a beast on the PK and forecheck.
+Glass - Had one of his best games, had chances, skated hard, hit everything as usual.

-Orpik - Worst shot on the team, Adams is better at that, I mean seriously, that's my only gripe, otherwise he was good.

+Bennett: Creating space, he's been so damn good every time he's been up.
+Morrow: Huge game by him today, nice to see him proving me right for wanting him on this team.
+Dupuis: Is there a role this guy can't play on the team? He could probably out coach Bylsma too.
+MAF: Another solid game, he's 8-1 in his last 9 starts.

Molinari tweeted he had a sunburn, then the team quickly released an "upper-body" injury and then Molinari tweeted "if the playoffs started today, Geno said he'd be ready to go."

So there's that.

Don't get me wrong, still a fan of Geno, but seriously...his play this season has been so much of him over thinking every play he does and over playing the puck like a rookie. I thought the Pens played a more complete game without him yesterday and that's a pretty fucked up thing to see. I am really hoping Geno is back the next game and gets back into form. This isn't one of those one year Sid is good, the next Geno is good, Sid is always fucking great, Geno benefits from that when he struggles because Sid's beast mode is more like Odin Mode.

It seems to be a case of Geno trying too hard and overthinking (as you said). He needs to simplify his game a bit, and not try as hard to deke all 6 guys out of their skates.

I think having Malkin back in was actually a distraction. The team went from playing a hard gritty game without him, to suddenly playing like they need to be all skill with every play.

Sid still needs to be cleared by the doctor to play. Last I read was that the doctors were worried that his jaw hadn't healed enough for him to play even with the protection on his helmet. But when he's back...my guess would be this.

Kunitz, Crosby, Dupuis
Iginla, Malkin, Neal
Morrow, Sutter, Bennett
Glass, Adams, Cooke

Or something like that, there are way too many options.

What I would like to see is Iginla with Sid. What I would want...

Dupuis, Crosby, Iginla
Kunitz, Malkin, Neal
Morrow, Sutter, Bennett
Cooke, Vitale, Adams

Pens could ice a decent 5th line too - Glass, Jeffrey, Kennedy

Dupuis has proven last year and this year that with or without Crosby, with his confidence as high as it is, he is someone you need to keep in check because he will burn you with a goal or two. I have never seen a guy suddenly become so good so late in his career. Most guys start to show signs of slowing down while Dupuis is showing signs of improving as a scoring threat. His speed is just so damn good, his conditioning is 2nd to Crosby, who is arguably the hardest training person in the league hands down.

Not sure I want Dupuis to go, he's been a huge influence on Despres. He could also be a huge influence on Bennett and his conditioning as well.

Game 3 (Because Game 2 was shit):

+:

Sid: Crosby gonna Crosby.

Kunitz: Tied the Game at 2 on the power play in the 1st, Ended it at 5-4 on the Power Play.

Letang: 2 assists, broke up shit, had some nice hits.

Iggy: Dat deflection goal.

Douglas Murray: Crackshaft was like Thor McOdin, that goal was sexytime.
A start so bad it made me make up a new word: Horribafuckus, blowing leads, looking like ass since period 2 of Game 2.
The Power Play: Pretty much Doing what To them what Philly did to us last year.
Even:

Eaton was pretty good.
MAF held in there
The rest.

With how fast the Islanders are and how physical they are, I wonder if Bylsma fucking gets it through his fat head that Kennedy and Vitale would be great in the line-up for this series. I mean I like Adams and his grit and experience, but we can do without him for a game or two. Not sure who else you would sit, maybe Cooke? He seems like he's ready to implode and do something stupid.

Glass, Vitale, Kennedy

That should be a bitch of a line to play against for speed, hits, and forechecking.

In any case...the +/-

+ Crosby - He played like he was shot out of a cannon all game long.
+ Dupuis - Rarely ever takes a night off
+ Kunitz - Took some punishment and kept coming back and scored when we needed him to, 2x.
+ Letang - He had a solid game, I would like it if he rushed up the ice a little less, was a little more physical, but he didn't fall prey to some of the chirping by Okposo
+ Murray - He's the only physical force on defense, we need Orpik back to help him out, but Murray scoring is always a huge +
= Despres - He didn't play like a rookie, sheltered minutes, but Bylsma is a mongtard like that

- Fleury - He looks rattled, he needs to play his game, play the angles, make it looks easy, when he's flopping around and being acrobatic, we're fucked
- Eaton - He was burned way too much today
- Bennett - He needs to shoot more often, there are times he tries to make a nice play and do the perfect pass but sometimes, he needs to be selfish
- Malkin - We all love the guy, but holy fuck does he suck at faceoffs, its getting to the point where you wonder if he will ever get better at them consistently like Crosby
- Team Defense - Absolutely horrible, they were chasing the puck and not playing the body, you learn at a young age that you play your man and if the puck is moved you make sure you finish your check, where was that? I saw way too much of the guys being passive and letting the Islanders just skate in and establish a cycle, that's the Pens game being used against us

After this game, there isn't a single member of our defense that I trust. Letang made some nice plays offensively but some horrid decisions defensively (also the play where he tried to carry the puck in from the blue line and had it stolen which nearly led to a breakaway). Murray was our best defender today, and Eaton did some good things. Despres looked bad from what I saw, Niskanen was fucking putrid. I don't want Niskanen on this team next year, or Orpik. We need to rebuild our defensive unit.

Harrington could win a spot out of camp with how good he is, there are a few guys to keep an eye out for. I'm still not sure what Shero plans to do with D'Agostino.

Even though no one is here reading this or actually gives a shit:

So far on the early season:

+:

MAF: Hasn't shit the bed too much or let in any terrible goals from the concession stands yet.

Olli Maatta: This kid is a fucking rock in his own zone, and absurdly smart for a 19 year old rookie.

Sid: Doing typical Sid related things.

Chuck Kobasew: A nice pickup solid 3rd liner/injury fill in 2nd liner.

Tanner Glass: He hasn't completely bit ass and has been unusually decent and served something resembling a role.

Robert Bortuzzo: Uhh why the fuck has he sat out the last 2 games for fucking Derek Engelland? Him and Maatta were a good looking pair for the first 2 games then in typical Bylsma fashion, bad game by everyone on the ice against Florida, gets scratched.

Rob Scuderi: The human shot blocking machine's return has seemed like a god send. He's fit back in and it's like he never left, The Defence has looked un real since he's come back.

The meh:

Dustin Jeffrey: Although in his defense he hasn't exactly been given enough minutes to actually do anything.

Craig Adams: Doing your typical Craig Adams stuff, killing penalties, blocking shots, and actually somehow found a scoring touch early on.

Matt Niskanen: Not good but not bad, but not excelling at one thing but also not sucking at another either.

The Bad:

Brooks Orpik: Actually it's in spurts sometimes he's looking bad for stretches in a game then starts to get pissed and starts murdering people in Orpik style then starts to play better.

Travis Zatkov: Even if he did only play one game so far he looked like absolute shit against Florida, was fighting the puck, was beat for some really awful goals, Was at times punching the puck away with his blocker on shots from Arabia.

All the rest are either eh or pfft.
